If you thought facial hair and philanthropy didn’t mix, you were wrong. All around the world men are growing mustaches to support prostate cancer awareness. And guess what? It’s working. Check out the official MOVEMBER site and see for yourself.
It’s working so well (in fact) that one OCH employee was inspired to created his own rendition of the hairy movement, self-dubbed: MOVEMBER with a Twist.
To raise money for a cancer battling champ and fellow employee Geri, the boss Jeff Taylor (Manager of OCH’s Christian County Clinic in Nixa, MO) has pledged to grow out his beard until employees and community members raise $1,000 for Geri and her family. Once the amount is raised, the mountain man will shave his monstrosity into a moustache and keep it for an undetermined amount of time.
At $600, he’s more than halfway there.
Today marks day 30 of operation-grow-a-beard, but Jeff’s still got a way to go before he reaches his goal. That’s why we’re deeming Tuesday, December 14 “D-Day,” (or rather, MO Day) to help boost our cash stash for a deserving family.
MO DAY Rules:
- Pay a buck to wear a ‘mo for a day.
- Pay $2 to make someone else sport a ‘stache.
- Or pay $5 for mustache protection to save your self from the ‘stache attack!
